 The Essener Konzertdirektion was founded in 1985 by Rosemarie Tobischek, who managed it in cooperation with her husband Dr. Herbert Tobischek. At that time he was the manager of the Philharmonia Hungarica. In 1990 he founded an opera agency of his own. Both agencies were linked in 1996 to “Konzertdirektion Tobischek”. Since June 2001, after Rosemarie Tobischek’s death, Herbert Tobischek has been the manager of the agency. The Konzertdirektion Tobischek represents artists of classical music, mainly conductors and instrumental soloists in Germany and abroad.
Dr. Herbert Tobischek was born in Vienna. He studied violin, bassoon, percussion instruments and musicology. From 1967 to 1986 he managed orchestras; first in Vienna the Niederoesterreichisches Tonkünstlerorchester and since 1979 as the director of the Philharmonia Hungarica, before he started his own business.
